The State of Palestine is a partially recognized country located in the southern Levant region of West Asia. It encompasses the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, collectively known as the Occupied Palestinian Territories. The State of Palestine was officially declared by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) on November 15, 1988. Palestine’s administrative center is in Ramallah, while its proclaimed capital is Jerusalem. The region has a rich and complex history, having been ruled by various empires and experiencing significant demographic changes over millennia. Today, Palestine is recognized by 145 out of 193 United Nations member states
